What is SSC CGL?
Let’s start with the full form of SSC CGL, SSC stands for ‘Staff Selection Commission’ and CGL for ‘Combined Graduate Level Examination’. Now, after knowing the full form, let’s go ahead for more details about this examination.
SSC CGL is one of the exams conducted by Staff Selection Commission, Government of India every year to recruit Indian citizens for various central government posts under various reputed government organizations.
It is an open competitive exam and is conducted for Grade B and Grade C central government posts in different ministries and government bodies. The SSC CGL exam is conducted in four tiers, i.e. SSC CGL Tier 1, SSC CGL Tier 2, SSC CGL Tier 3 and SSC CGL Tier 4.
How is SSC-CGL exam conducted? What is the selection procedure?
SSC CGL exam is conducted in four tiers as already described as SSC CGL Tier 1, SSC CGL Tier 2, SSC CGL Tier 3 and SSC CGL Tier 4. Let’s go in detail.
SSC CGL Tier 1 – (Prelims) – Written Test (Objective MCQ)
SSC CGL Tier 2 – (Mains) – Written Test (Objective MCQ)
SSC CGL Tier 3 – (Descriptive Test) – Essay/Passage/Application/Letter writing
SSC CGL Tier 4 – (DEST/CPT) -Computer Proficiency Test / Data Entry Skill Test and Document Verification
SSC CGL Time Allocation and Marks Distribution:
SSC CGL Tier 1 – 75 minutes (1 Hour 15 Minutes) – 200 Marks
SSC CGL Tier 2 – 75 minutes (1 Hour 15 Minutes) – 200 Marks
SSC CGL Tier 3 – 60 Minutes ( 1 Hour) – 60 Marks
